Longboarding is primarily about style. Maneuvering on a longboard resembles a dance and requires a high level of skill.
Overview
During our sessions, we teach how to choose suitable waves, perform classic longboarding techniques, from basic turns and steps to hang fives, and develop your unique surfing style.
Elements and skills you will learn
Bottom and top turns. Turning from the lower section of the wave upwards and from the upper section downwards.
Board acceleration. Longboarding acceleration technique differs from shortboarding: to speed up the board, the surfer takes several steps towards the nose.
Cross-steps. Movement along the board forward and backward with crossover steps. We teach from a half step to nose riding.
Hang Five. A trick where the longboarder rides the nose of the board, hanging the toes of one foot over its edge.
Cheat Five (cheater 5). A variation of the hang five, where the surfer shifts the weight to the back foot instead of the front one.
